The large amount of global carbon dioxide emissions not only caused serious environmental pollution problems, but also caused frequent disastrous weather around the world, which seriously threatened the survival of mankind and other life on the earth.

The introduction of the carbon peak and carbon neutral target has drawn a good blueprint for my country's future green and low-carbon development. However, it should also be noted that my country is in the stage of industrialization, and the industrial technology, energy consumption, and emission levels still lag far behind those of developed countries. my country is facing tremendous pressure and challenges to achieve the goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. To achieve this goal, my country must not only strive to improve the technological level of the manufacturing industry, increase energy conservation and emission reduction, but also need to change the energy structure and reduce high energy consumption.
The determination of my country's carbon peak and carbon neutral goals will further promote the development of green economy and the reform of urbanization, industrialization, and electrification, which is of great significance to the development of new energy, especially clean power.
In recent years, carbon emissions trading has gradually become a hot topic. Today we will talk about how much carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases can be reduced by photovoltaic power plants.
Let's take a 1MW photovoltaic power station as an example for calculation. The first thing that needs to be explained is that my country has a vast geographic area, and the solar radiation resources in different regions are different. The power generation of photovoltaic power stations with the same capacity installed in different regions is very different. If we take the photovoltaic power stations in the Jiangsu-Zhejiang region and the Hexi Corridor region of Gansu as examples for analysis.
▲Industrial and commercial rooftop photovoltaic power station
We know that the annual solar radiation on the surface of the best inclination photovoltaic array in Jiangsu and Zhejiang is usually around 1300kWh/m², while the Hexi Corridor in the northwestern region is rich in solar radiation resources, about 2000kWh/m².
The 1MW photovoltaic power station in Jiangsu and Zhejiang can generate 1 million kWh in the first year.
The 1MW photovoltaic power station along the Hexi Corridor can generate 1.6 million kWh in the first year.
Compared with conventional coal-thermal power plants, 1MW photovoltaic power plants can save 405-630 tons of standard coal, 1036-1600 tons of carbon dioxide, 9.7-15.0 tons of sulfur dioxide, and 2.8-4.4 tons of nitrogen oxides each year.
According to the current average transaction price of carbon emissions of about 40 yuan/ton, the annual carbon emission reduction transaction revenue of a 1MW photovoltaic power station is about 41-6.4 million yuan.
In 1997, more than 100 countries around the world signed the "Kyoto Protocol", carbon emission rights have become a commodity, and carbon trading has become one of the core means of carbon emission reduction. Currently, there are dozens of carbon trading systems in the world. In 2020, the global carbon market transaction scale reached 229 billion euros, an increase of 18% year-on-year, and the total carbon transaction volume reached 10.3 billion tons. The price of carbon emissions has doubled from an average of 25 Euros per ton to around 50 Euros per ton in early May 2021.
my country's carbon trading work has been carried out for more than ten years. Eight regions across the country, including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Chongqing, Hubei, Guangdong, Shenzhen, and Fujian, have launched carbon trading pilot projects and have completed nearly 500 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions. Volume transactions, with a turnover of tens of billions. At the same time, various departments such as the Science and Technology Department have organizations engaged in clean energy mechanisms or carbon emission management departments.
It is understood that the current carbon emission trading price in my country is 20-52 yuan per ton. Compared with the international market, the carbon emission price is still relatively low. However, with the national "dual-carbon" goal and the advancement of internationalization, the carbon emission price is rising. The trend is inevitable. my country currently has 240GW of photovoltaic power plants with an annual power generation capacity of 117.2 billion kWh to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 116.8848 million tons. The annual emission quota indicators worth about 40 million to 60 million yuan can be used for market transactions. Photovoltaic power generation can not only obtain economic benefits directly through the sale of electricity, but also obtain additional economic income through carbon emissions trading.
We believe that in the future, my country will further increase the management of carbon emission allowances and develop carbon emission market transactions to promote the development of new energy and the realization of the "dual carbon" goal.
(Note: Calculation formula: 1 kWh = 0.39 kg coal = 0.997 kg carbon dioxide = 0.00936 kg sulfur dioxide = 0.00273 kg nitrogen oxides)
